Power BI and Data Warehouse Projects
Participation in reporting projects using Power BI — based on data from a warehouse fed by Fusion ERP. My role involved designing data logic and supporting modeling for controlling purposes.
Objective:
Designing a star-schema data model tailored to the expectations of controlling users and enabling clear reporting.
Scope:
➤ Designing the model structure – selecting fact and dimension tables
➤ Analyzing relationships between Fusion data and reporting requirements
➤ Joining intermediary data (2–3 bridge tables between key entities)
➤ Consulting on the business layer and aggregation logic
➤ Verifying final outputs for consistency and usability by controllers
Challenges:
➤ Lack of clear keys in source data
➤ Need to simplify the model while preserving full functionality
➤ Performance limitations with large datasets and multiple dimensions
Outcome:
➤ A complete star-schema model implemented in Power BI
➤ Improved data clarity for business users
➤ Reduced time needed to prepare reports in controlling
